[ Note: This is just one example of how teachers all over the country try to intimidate students into becoming unquestioning and well-behaved modernists. - ARC Staff ]

I am a freshman art major at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I am realist painter and a big fan of your web site. Not only does it offer beautiful prints, but it also reveals the truth about the modern artist. Unfortunately, because I am a realist, and I am a big fan of Bouguereau and other masters, my teacher gives me a very hard time. He gave me a bad grade because my final paper was on the incredible masterpiece by Bouguereau called Temptation. He said the artist was a sickly sweet painter with no content in his paintings, and his only goal was to please people. My question was, 'what is so bad about pleasing people'? Isn't this a good thing? Any way, thank you for standing up for the artists who aren't afraid to please and create works of beauty and ART!

Thanks,
Julia Johnson
