Rembrandt Portraits

The Art Institute of Chicago is holding an exhibition of Rembrandt portraits. Rembrandt added new dimensions to the genre, constructing identities through props, lighting, and ambiguous settings. The exhibition looks at Rembrandt’s approach to portraiture, which is more complex than it seems.
Rembrandt Portraits will be on view from March 3–June 9, 2019 at the Art Institute of Chicago, 111 South Michigan Avenue , Chicago, IL 60603.
