Barcelona Academy of Art Workshop: Giorgos Rorris

Published on May 10, 2018

Giorgos Rorris was born in Kosmas, Arcadia Kinourias in 1963. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Panagiotis Tetsis and Yiannis Valavanidis. He continued his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Leonardo Cremonini.

For more than 35 years, Giorgos has centred his work on the human figure placed in decrepit, seemingly abandoned and unsettling interiors. Unapologetic female nudes and powerful portraits form Rorris’ influential body of work.

During five days, the students will dive into the craft of painting by the hands of one of Greece’s most important representational artist. Presenting his influences and inspirations Giorgos will expand on the tools and solutions he uses in his own work, guiding and encouraging students to find their personal creative expression.

The 5 day workshop runs from July 16-20, 2018 at BAA Poblenou, 34, Carrer de la Ciutat de Granada, Barcelona, Spain.
