In 2010 Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake. An orphanage was relocated to the countryside after their building crumbled. They were living in tents in a cow pasture. A small group of my childhood friends were able visit the orphanage and in a small way, help with the rebuild and fund raising.  I returned years later to teach art classes to the children.

This young girl was among the children at the orphanage.  She has endured hardship, earthquakes, and hurricanes, yet somehow she has held on to the innocence and joy of childhood. She is beautiful. She is Haitian. She is proud.
