"In this piece I wanted to represent Don Quixote as an elderly man with melancholy and a tired look, sitting under the shade of a tree, but with great determination that directs his gaze directly to the viewer, with the spear in his hand. Beside him, Sancho, his faithful squire, tends to his armor with great care and dedication, preparing him for battle—a psychological battle against his internal demons that look like windmills being reflected in the eyes of Miguel de Cervantes’ characters. For me, the character of Don Quixote symbolizes justice and the struggle for ideals. On the other hand, with Sancho I wanted to represent love and loyalty." – RUBÉN BELLOSO ADORNA
